The water project will update the town’s water plant, the water mains, and the lines to homes.

Project Timeline

• Construction contracts signed (March 6, 2024)
• Pre-construction meeting (April 1, 2024)
• Demolition of water plant began (April 10, 2024)
• Demolition of water plant continues. (April 22, 2024)
• Then will remove old fence and replace with a new temporary steel fence. (April 23, 2024)
• Work will continue on digging the footers for new building. (April 23, 2024)
• Graves is laying and tying rebar in preparation for pouring the concrete foundation for the Water Treatment Plant ( May 6, 2024)
• Graves prepping footers and concrete is being brought in for the foundation for the Water Treatment Plant (May 8, 2024)
• Graves is continuing work to place wall forms at the Water Treatment Plant. Schedule for pouring concrete foundation walls is Monday May 13, 2024 weather permitting.
• Graves is finishing prep on wall forms and pouring concrete later in the afternoon. (May 16, 2024)
• Wendi Sexton ( water treatment operator) will be backwashing the filers in the middle of the night 2x weekly while the water tower restoration project is going on. This will happen at 12:30am – 2:00am Monday and Thursday.
• Water tower will be out of service for a month give or take on the weather.
• Graves is back on site today beginning work to dig and frame for sidewalk on the North side of the new building. (May 30, 2024)
• Electric Plus is continuing work installing PVC conduit at the foundation of the new water treatment plant. Graves is working on framing around the sidewalk on north side of the building. May 31, 2024
• O&J has the containment skirt up at water tower they are working on the inside. May 31, 2024
• Graves is working on laying rebar for sidewalk on the north side of the building. June 3, 2024
• O & J has removed the exterior paint for the Water Tower. June 4, 2024
• Graves has installed water meter vault, working on installing piping at the rear of the building. Will be pouring concrete sidewalk on the north side of the building in the afternoon. June 6, 2024
• O & J has put decals on both sides of the Water Tower June 11, 2024
• Electric Plus finished installing the conduit. June 12, 2024
• Graves installing the concrete forms for the foundation of the iron removal unit. June 14, 2024
• Graves working on the granular fill, floor drains, and grouting around pipes at the New Water Treatment Plant. June 17, 2024
• Building has been framed and enclosed, roofing will begin soon. October 11, 2024

Water mains and lines– As these are scheduled updates will be posted here

• B & T is in town today starting work of 4th and South Street. They do have the water shut down between 3rd and 4th Street on the South Street. All homes on this stretch have water service lines and meters that tie in elsewhere. These homes should not be impacted by loss of water. (May 9, 2024).
• B & T Replaced the South Streets water service line at 130 South Street from the water main to the meter. Also replaced the service line at 125 South 3rd Street. May 9, 2024
• B & T are in town today starting on water mains- They are starting on Greencastle Avenue July 11, 2024
• B & T is continuing to install the new water main from Seventh Street to Jefferson Street, along the North side of Greencastle Avenue. Jeffersson Street at Greencastle Avenue remains CLOSE! July 12, 2024
• B & T is working along Greencastle Avenue today from Hoover St. to Jefferson St. The Jefferson St. intersection is still closed to the traffic. July 15, 2024
• Jefferson Street at Greencastle Avenue is now open. Parking remains closed along the east side of Jefferson Street due to construction along the route. July 17, 2024
• All water mains have been completed. October 11, 2024
